Appearance

Maria is a blonde bombshell. She has blonde hair with pink "high lights" that doesn't quite meet her shoulders along with a pair of icy blue eyes. She has a butterfly tattoo on her right hip. In the game she wears a pink button up sweater that doesn't cover her midriff, a pink and purple leopard print skirt, a chain "belt" that falls across the skirt, black pantyhose, and black heeled leather boots that cover most of her calves. She also wears a choker that matches her skirt's print and has a circular medallion hanging off it, much resembling a collar. She also tends to wear a decent amount of make up.

In Romdeau, she also likes to wear this outfit and ones that resemble it in many ways. However, she also will wear things like baggy sweaters and jeans when she feels it is improper to have such a loud appearance.

Personality

Maria is a very resilient individual. No matter what happens, she continues on, refusing to let her existence be doubted. In general, she is the type to help others, even once stating "I don't mind fighting for an impossible cause." She can also be rather motherly.

However, there is a darker side to Maria's personality. While she is often cheerful and energetic, her mood can change at the drop of a hat. She will speak tenderly, tease, and cry all within the same breath. When it comes to things she wants (or people), she is insistent, relentless even. She can show a cruel side, speaking down on people in certain instances. She can also act very weak and dependent, even if she in all actuality a strong and independent woman. One can never be sure just which version of Maria they will find on any given day, and her reactions can certainly never be anticipated.

Canon History

Maria was created by Silent Hill for James. She was what James wished his late wife Mary was, outgoing and sexy. She is killed by Pyramid Head several times as a reminder to James that he had killed his own wife.

She meets James when he goes to Rosewater Park in search of Mary, and from there guides him in the right direction, making him realize he needs to go to the Lakeview Hotel. She also guides him to where Laura is. She is constantly reminding James of Mary. She also has a deep desire for James to love her. She has many of Mary's memories.

In the end, she is reunited with James after he kills Mary again. She goes to leave Silent Hill with him and begins coughing, indicating she may have the same illness that Mary was dying of.

Romdeau History

Maria remembers very little of her childhood, other than she was an orphan with no real family. In truth, her mother died when Maria was still a toddler, and her father abandoned her not long after. She was then juggled from foster family to foster family, finally taking off to be on her own while still a relatively young teenager. She worked to take care of herself, doing odd jobs that came up, some less than legitimate. Eventually, she accumulated enough money to live decently and get a proper job. Now, Maria is a case worker. She can somewhat sympathize with the immigrants, having once come from nothing herself, and she knows it isn't impossible to gain a place among the normal citizenry of Romdeau.
